Dr Karina Powers
Occupational Physician

Consultant in Occupational and Environmental Medicine

Dr Karina Powers enjoys consulting in occupational medicine as each presentation or project is unique. 

Dr Powers is an Occupational Physician (Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine- Royal Australasian College of Physicians). She holds a Masters of Public Health and Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. She is also a Certified Independent Medical Examiner with the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and certified as a Medical Review Officer for drug and alcohol testing.  

She is recognized as an Approved Medical Specialist with WorkCover WA.  She is a recognized Permanent Impairment
Assessor for Comcare. She is certified as a Medical Review Officer (to fulfill requirements for drug and alcohol testing in the workplace).

Dr Powers has practiced in private occupational health clinics in Perth, servicing a mixture of private companies and government agencies and departments. She has also worked in public health, communicable disease and research in the Department of Health Western Australia. 

Her main interests are prevention of injury and
disease (including pandemic planning), early intervention, fitness for work, rehabilitation,
impairment/ disability assessment and medico-legal assessment.

Dr Roger Lai
Occupational physician

MBBS MOHS FAFOEM

Dr Lai is an Occupational Physician assisting organisations with Total Worker Health. This ranges from traditional risk management activities (injury management, fitness for work, health surveillance, independent assessments) to 'upstream' human capital investment - design and implementation of integrated health protection and health promotion.  

He has a particular interest in helping organisations develop a wellness culture around mental health based on raising awareness, peer support, early intervention, management development and physical activity. 

He can frequently be spotted jogging along Herdsman Parade. 

He is contracted to the Department of Education, Department of Health and WA Police for managing fitness for work. 

Dr Lai is actively involved with his professional body as an AFOEM examiner. He is a clinical adjunct associate professor (Curtin University).

He is a Fellow of the Australian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine- Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Approved Medical Specialist with WorkCover WA and certified Medical Review Officer for drug and alcohol testing.
